This content page has three sections to helped you better understand what Continental Drift and Plate Tectonics are. You are required to complete all the parts within the "A Solid Introduction" and the "Check Your Understanding" sections. Under the "Let's Dive Deeper" section, you need to choose 2 out of the 3 options to complete (you can do all 3 if you like).

1. A Solid Introduction:

All parts required. The following activities will help you gain a basic understanding of what Continental Drift is and what Plate Tectonics is. Be sure to complete the activities listed in this sections before moving on to the "Check Your Understanding" activities.

B. Read or listen to the following article about Plate Tectonics.

2. Check Your Understanding:

All parts required. Here you will check what you retained from the previous activities and how well you understood what you learned. Feel free to go back and review the material in the "S Solid Introduction" section after completing these activities if there is something you realized you didn't quite get.

A. What can you recall about Continental Drift? Complete the following interactive review game. You will need to complete 10 questions correctly to "win" the game. You can go back through the game as many time as is needed for you to feel comfortable with the material.

B. What can you recall about Plate Tectonics? Complete the following quizlet puzzle to test your understanding of Plate Tectonics. You can choose any of the options under the study section: flashcards, learn, write, spell, test, match, or gravity. You are welcome to go through multiple study methods but you are only required to complete one of them.

3. Let's Dive Deeper:

Choose at least 2 of the following. Now that you have a solid grasp on Continental Drift and Plate Tectonics, take a look at the following activities. These things will challenge your understanding and require you to apply. There are also additional games and puzzles under this section that can help you solidify what you have learned above. Complete at least 2 of the following activities. After that, you are welcome to do more if you like.

A. Pangea Puzzle! You move, twist, and turn the continents to make them all fit back together like it was when Pangea was still around. To pick which puzzle you would like to try, click on the picture.

B. Plate Tectonics in a little more depth. This interactive module helps you learn about things like the lithosphere and what the earth could look like in the future.

C. Travel through deep time. This interactive module lets you view what the earth looked like at specific times in the past. Take a look at each of the descriptions to learn more about what made each time distinct in the Earth's history.
